Really, why did we (Steve and I -Jen) start Tap 2 Drain and how the heck did we get where we are now.


In 2006, Steve was working for another company and I just had a baby (He is “OUR” baby, but I did all the hard work).  He was miserable, unable to do his best job while making the “bosses” happy.  We talked A LOT about what we would do different, BETTER.  What we would want and how we would like to be treated if we were a client.  By the end of it we had a plan!


People thought we where CRAZY,(most likely) but we really felt it was now or never.   So, we did it, June 1st, 2007 Tap 2 Drain plumbing services was born.  I could tell you that it was easy and we had a good time, but that would be a fairy tale.   It was hard!!!  Like really hard!  We started off in new construction, working for builders while doing service calls.  Steve did all the field work and I did the office work.  Together we did the billing sometimes till 2 in the morning.

Once people found out about Steve, business picked up quickly.  We hired another plumber.  Someone who believed in us and was a good person.  Still hard work and it turns out even though we though we where doing well, we really where loosing money.  And I’m not talking a little money… nope, by the time we stopped the bleeding we were $280,000 in the hole.

We needed to make a drastic change to our business model, and fast.  With help from mentors and others in our industry, we quickly revamped.  We fired our builders and focused on home owners.  We have been very fortunate to receive loads of help during re-branding from creative and business people who believe in and support us .  It was a super stressful time but one we would never change.  We learnt so much. Bonus: Baby boy 2 arrived and our hairy baby too!

This NEW Tap 2 Drain is our dream, focused on SERVICE and servicing clients as family.  We haven’t looked back…with in two years we had paid off the debt and we have been growing ever since.

Growing for the right reasons too, word of mouth and referrals are still #1.  We have added techs that are good people, good at what they do and fit our company culture. It is important  our clients are RAVING FANS but, it is just as important our team members are raving fans as well.  We have fun as a team and our techs are the best plumbers out there!

Now I am not saying every day is SUNSHINE and RAINBOWS.  Some days’ suck.  There is still stress and there are still fires to put out BUT we have a plan we have a direction and we know what we want.  How we get there will be with integrity and patience.  Not at the expense of ANYONE.

It sure has been a ride and on June 1st, 2017, Tap 2 Drain turns 10 YEARS OLD!  Really can’t believe it!  The next 10 years is going to be spectacular! Watch out world … because here we come.  Stay tuned to find out what’s next!!!
